Our Learn to Play program is targetted at young children with the aim of introducing the sport to them.
The first Learn to Play camp was held in 2005 in Leh, Ladakh.
Our coaches have been internationally trained in the method of conducting this program. They have received training at the Asian Development Camps as well as the Vierumaki Institute.
Our coaches like Mohr. Abbes have taken the initiative to introduce these programs at the grass route levels in the Himalayan areas of India.
In our limited window of 2 – 3 months of ice every year we manage to conduct at least one learn to play program each at the main hockey playing areas of Leh and Kargil. Many villages in the Ladakh and Kargil regions have open air rinks which are being used for these programs.
Starting 2009 similar programs will also be conducted in metro cities like Delhi and Mumbai which have small ice rinks which can be used for the LTP programs.
Once we have more indoor ice rinks in India, this program will be expanded to other districts and regions of India.
We will also be introducing Learn to Play programs in Inline hockey in 2008 as we feel this is the logical step for new players who do not have access to Ice facilities. Inline hockey is already being played in Gujarat and Mumbai at the school level in an informal capacity.
